PITTSBURGH, Pa. — August 11, 2026 — Wave today introduced its consumer mobile approach as it prepares to launch service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Wave combines its own licensed mobile network footprint in launch areas with supported domestic and international roaming, giving customers a straightforward way to stay connected both close to home and while traveling.
Many mobile customers think about coverage as a single national map. Wave is taking a more focused approach. The company establishes its own network presence in the areas it launches, while supported roaming relationships extend connectivity beyond the Wave footprint. For customers, the goal is simple: connect to Wave where Wave operates, and continue onto supported partner networks when travel takes them elsewhere.
“Wave is being built around a simple idea: your mobile service should work where you live, and it should still make sense when you leave,” said a Wave spokesperson. “We can focus our own network investment in the communities we serve while using roaming to give customers broader reach without turning travel into a complicated pricing problem.”
A local network with a global outlook
Pittsburgh is a launch market for Wave’s consumer service. Within supported Wave coverage, compatible devices can connect directly to the Wave network. Beyond the Wave footprint, supported roaming can extend service across the United States and into participating international destinations.
This local-plus-global model is central to how Wave positions itself in the mobile market. Rather than treating international connectivity as an afterthought, Wave is designing its plans around customers who may live locally but travel nationally or globally.
Simple mobile pricing
Wave’s consumer pricing starts with Unlimited Talk + Text from $10 per month. Customers can then add data based on where they need to connect. Current advertised data options include Global Data at $10 per GB pay as you go, 1 GB for $25, or 5 GB for $40. United States and Caribbean Data is offered at $10 per GB pay as you go or 5 GB for $50.
Some countries and territories are excluded, and availability varies by location, device, plan, serving network, and roaming partner. Compatible devices can access 4G LTE and 5G where supported.
Bring your phone or choose a new one
Wave is designed to make switching straightforward. Customers with a compatible unlocked phone can ask Wave to review device compatibility before activation. Wave also plans to offer select phones for purchase with eligible plan and financing options.
How Wave is different
Wave’s differentiation is not based on asking customers to choose between local coverage and travel flexibility. Its model is designed to combine both: a Wave-operated network footprint in selected launch markets and supported roaming that expands the places customers can use their service.
The result is a mobile offering centered on three ideas: a real network presence where Wave launches, broader reach through roaming, and pricing that is intended to remain easy to understand.
